Mother’s Day Gratitude

“God could not be everywhere, therefore he made mothers.”  – Rudyard Kipling

I love this painting by Mary Cassatt, an American impressionist who so lovingly portrayed women and their intimate bonds with their children.

Mom loved to cuddle me and my siblings in bed on Saturday mornings, squeezing and kissing us until we couldn’t stand it anymore. I think of her often and thank God for every day she’s on this earth. With each passing week, I become more thankful for her steadfast patience, support and encouragement.

Recently, I realized mom was way ahead of her time when it came recycling and sustainable living. A few weeks ago Starbucks gave my friend a bag of used coffee grounds for his garden. As we carried it to our car, I remembered that mom – back in the 1960s and 1970s –used grapefruit rinds and coffee grounds to fertilize her plants. She’s been reading Prevention magazine for decades and is always up to date on the best home remedies and natural healing practices. Apparently that’s rubbed off on me, since my love of nature and its power to nourish and heal our bodies is the foundation of my skin care products, Second Nature Skin.

So, happy Mother’s Day mom. Thanks for being you!

Make your mom happy with a skin care set that will protect and nourish her skin this summer.

For $30 you’ll get a set of Cranberry Nectar, Sun Patrol sunscreen and a Happy Lips lip balm. That’s $5.50 off the normal price of $35.50.

  • Sun Patrol is the safest protection under the sun. This moisture rich, zinc-based sunscreen (SPF 30) protects against UVA and UVB sun rays. It’s very water resistant and safe for your face, children and the environment.
  • Cranberry Nectar is an anti-oxidant rich blend of botanical oils that moisturizes and helps reduce sun damage. It’s loaded with Vitamins E, A and K and has the perfect balance of omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids, helping it to absorb quickly and nourish the skin.
  • Happy Lips lip balm, with their subtle coconut aroma, will make your lips oh-so-kissable. They’re made with organic oils and waxes to form a seal and prevent moisture loss.

Many blessings to all the loving moms out there!
